STRI: a guide to turf varieties for temperate regions

For turf professionals, the annual report from The British Society of Plant Breeders and the STRI group is an excellent guide to the best new varieties. Although the report comes in three sections – sports grasses, lawn grasses and close-mow (also known as 'the greens list') – the listings are not exclusive. A versatile variety can appear in more than one section.

DLF features strongly on the STRI listings

New varieties on the competitive Grasgids

The Dutch turf grass list – the Grasgids – is highly competitive. To achieve a listing, a new variety has to perform better than the variety that's already at number 7 in the list. Nevertheless, DLF plant breeders have 18 varieties on the sports lists. Eight are perennial ryegrasses, and ten are smooth-stalked meadow-grasses, including BECCA and DAKISHA, which are new to the list.
