Get the best from your
bioenergy crops

A bioenergy crop is no different from any other crop: to get good results, you have to manage it well. Fertiliser, for example, is an essential ingredient for a high yield of dry matter from beet. That's because beets for biogas thrive much like sugar beet – on a high-input growing strategy.

More than 20 tonnes of dry matter per hectare

With the right management you can grow more than 20 tonnes of dry matter per hectare of biogas beet. Better than that, you can feed the tops and everything else – weeds included – into your digester. No weed seed will germinate after it's been through a biodigester.

Other advantages of bioenergy crops are that you can grow them on wetlands and nature reserves, although the yields may not be so good from these more challenging environments
