DLF PRONITRO

Overseeding is the most environmentally friendly and cost effective way of establishing grass seed. Unfortunately the operation of overseeding is seen as a hit and miss operation amongst grassland farmers.

In recognition of this DLF have come up with the solution of nitrogen coated seed to take the risk element out of overseeding. We call this ProNitro.

Nitrogen seed coating for ProNitro® overseeding mixtures.

This offers significantly stronger and faster grass establishment. PRONITRO® is coated directly on to the seed to give the germinating and developong seedling the full benefit of the additional nutrition.

The roots and shoots grow rapidly, developing strong seedlings that grow at least 30% more vigorous growth. These are useful developmental traits for overseeding and a competitive award.

PRONITRO®

  • Oversow at 30kg/ha (12kg/ acre)
  • Feeds the grass seed and not the surrounding grass, giving up to 34% more viable grass plants
  • Strong establishment with around three times as many stronger plants and green matter
  • Increases yield potential and subsequent livestock output
  • Targeted nitrogen application can reduce losses to the environment by up to 50%

DLF TOP 10 TIPS FOR OVERSEEDING WITH DLF PRONITRO

  • Assess the field for weeds and grass species content
  • Timing is essential.  After the last cut or hard grazing
  • Select tetraploid varieties as they compete more aggressively with the existing sward
  • Consider using ProNitro® treated seed as an option
  • Scarify pre drilling to remove thatch.  This lets in sunlight & moisture
  • Use the correct drilling method.  For younger open swards a scarifying rake, for denser swards a disc drill
  • Cross drilling can improve ground cover
  • Roll after drilling for good seed to soil contact.  Use a Cambridge roll if possible
  • Be aware of Frit Fly and Leather Jacket attack (consult your agronomist)
  • Stock can continue to graze up to seedling emergence.  Then allow establishment
